RODBENDERS August 06 NEWSLETTER

 

This month the club ventured into East Texas to Lake Hawkins to fish a night tournament. Surface temps weren't much cooler than your bathtub at home and the results overall were poor.   Hawkins usually produces better for our club, but drought conditions and hot water temps made the fish very sluggish, and who can blame them!  Jeff Cade and Tony South continued what has been a fine year for them, coming in first place with three fish at 6.14 pounds. The team of Jason Hill and Ronnie Baker came in second with two fish at 4.71 pounds. There was a tie for third place with the team of Martin Kralik/John Duhon and the team of Wes Mitchell/Doug McClure each weighing in one fish at 1.57 pounds. Ronnie Baker took Big Bass honors for this event with a 3.00 pound fish. There were 21 anglers competing and bringing in 9 fish weighing in a total of 16.81 pounds, a 1.87 pound average. Thanks to everyone for participating and congratulations to the winners. We hope to see everyone next month at Lake Texoma.

 

With only one tournament left in this season, the race for Rodbenders Angler of the Year is still heating up almost as much as our sun scorched DFW area!!!  It now seems to be a two horse race, barring some major upheaval at Texoma.  Two fine anglers have put themselves in a position to take the angler of the year crown for 2005-2006. Jason Hill is still leading the race, but Martin Kralik is so close in points, it will literally come down to where they finish at Lake Texoma.  One fish could make all the difference. It should be fun to watch these guys battle for the crown. Good luck guys!  You both should be commended for great seasons!!!

2006 RODBENDERS ANNUAL CLASSIC --- Congratulations to the following members that have qualified for the annual classsic at the end of the season:  Jason Hill, Martin Kralik, Mike Millender, Cody Spoerl, Riley Hamilton, Tim Hall, James Canon, Joe Singel, Brian Lee, Tony South, and Jeff Cade.

Three members are "on the bubble", so we are close to having a decent field for this year's event….

 

 

***Congratulations are in order for Wayne & Denice Kralik for MARCUS WAYNE KRALIK, a 6+ pound keeper, arriving on Tuesday, July 18. Marcus Wayne has already started collecting Crank Baits in anticipation of bass fishing soon…

All are home and doing fine. Congratulations Wayne & Denice!
