RODBENDERS August 07 Newsletter
|
Well, it was the “Jason and Mike Show” on Lake Lavon
this past month as these guys brought more pounds to
the scale than the rest of us combined! Lavon was
on the fall for a few weeks, so that could have
affected the overall bite. Many anglers reported
seeing tons of shad and many small fish Jason Hill
continued what has been a great season and pretty
much cemented his hold on the Angler of the Year
title. He and Mike Millender paired up to bring 6
keepers at 10.97 pounds to the scale. Martin Kralik
and John Duhon brought one keeper and big bass of
the event at 2.93 pounds. They were fishing the
event under protest until they pulled a check as
they felt a fellow competitor must have paid a jet
ski to ride up on top of the area they were throwing
to – at about 5:30 while still pitch dark – and
pretty much screw up the spot for the dark, quiet
bite. Third place went to the team of Jeff Flovin
and Scotty Scott – pulling their first team check,
who had 1 fish weighing in at 2.61 pounds.
Twenty-three competitors brought in 10 fish at a
total of 19.04 pounds, a 1.90 pound average.
Thanks to everyone for participating and
congratulations to the winners. We hope to see
everyone next month at Lake Bob Sandlin on September
8th.
Only one tournament is left in this 2006-2007 season, with a few members needing to fish this event to qualify for the Rodbenders Classic. In the Angler of the Year competition, Jason Hill almost put the ink on the trophy at Lavon and time will tell if he has enough points to pull it off when everything gets shaved down to the best 10 tournaments. Jason is having a fantastic season, coming in with quality stringers event after event. Good job, Jason! |
