RODBENDERS September 06 NEWSLETTER
| The typical North Texas winter winds gave us a break for our Lake Fork event on December 2nd. Besides some chilly early morning temps, the weather was quite pleasant, the water temps were in the upper fifties on the main lake, and the usual Fork crowds were non-existent. The club almost had the entire lake to ourselves. Red rattle traps, shallow crankbaits in a shad pattern, and soft plastics fished wacky style or drop shot seemed to be the producers for the winning teams. Most of the boats caught keepers and slots fairly shallow, which was somewhat strange considering that the first major cold front of the season had blasted through with a wintry mix. Thirteen competitors brought in 32 fish weighing in 38.63 pounds, a 1.21 pound average. Tim Hall and Jerry Vaughan had a great day on the lake and brought in 7 keepers at 9.42 pounds for a first place finish. Coming in a close second place was the team of John Duhon and James Cannon with 7 fish at 9.19 pounds. Third place went to Jason Hill and Brian Lee with 6 fish at 7.06 pounds. Big bass of the event was John Duhon with a 2.26 pound fish. Thanks to everyone for participating and congratulations to the winners. We hope to see everyone next month at Lake Welsh. |
