RODBENDERS January 07 Newsletter
| The club ventured to good old Lake Welsh for some winter powerplant action, and for some guys the lake did not disappoint. Many anglers reported catching quantities of fish, although the catch rates for keepers seemed about consistent with past events on the lake. Many of the fish appeared to be in post spawn, so we probably hit it a month or two behind the prime time. All in all, most members said they had a great time. There was another club on the lake that day and the majority of their members seemed to be fishing on the lower lake. Their winning stringer was somewhere in the neighborhood of 15-17 pounds for four or five keepers. Twenty-three competitors brought in 9 fish weighing in 26.46 pounds, a 2.94 pound average. James Cannon and Ken Cecil were one of the two boats with 2 keepers and their stringer of 6.02 pounds was enough for a first place finish. Coming in a close second place was the team of Steve Kralik and Darrell Thompson with 2 fish at 5.52 pounds. Third place went to Jeff Cade and guest Mike Webb with 1 fish at 3.34 pounds. Jeff's fish also won big bass of the event. Thanks to everyone for participating and congratulations to the winners. We hope to see everyone next month at Lake Monticello. |
