Welcome to 2008 to all our members!  Given the very wet summer and fall, our fishing this year should be outstanding.  In over 16 plus years of our club, the best seasons for overall catch rates and quality of bass have been significantly better when we have a wet summer and fall preceding that year.  The club ventured to the powerplant Lake Monticello this past January 5^th, and we hit good weather for the anglers, but bad weather for powerplant fishing.  The warming trend leading up to tournament day lent itself to the powerplant being shut down for three consecutive days.  This made the surface temps drop over 7 degrees over the week, which put the fish in shut down mode, for the most part.  This was a paper event, so the top six places are being recognized as follows:  Coming in first place was Mike Millender with a four fish stringer at 11.33 pounds.  Second place went to James Cannon with four fish at 10.34 pounds.  A very near third place went to Riley Hamilton with four fish at 10.25 pounds.  The fourth spot was held by Tim Hall with three fish at 7.84 pounds, while coming in fifth place was John Duhon with three fish at 6.30 pounds.  Rounding out the event was Martin Kralik in sixth place with two fish at 5.07 pounds.  We had a tie for big bass, with James Cannon and Jason Hill each catching a fish measuring 18 ¾ inches for 4.15 pounds paper weight.   Twenty anglers total brought in 32 bass at 79.67 pounds, a 2.49 pound average.  Thanks to everyone for participating and congratulations to the winners.
