RODBENDERS June 07 Newsletter
|
The club
decided to try a two-day format on Lakes Bob Sandlin
and Cypress Springs this past June 2nd
and 3rd, hoping for some steady bites
over both days.
The overcast conditions allowed us to
beat the heat both mornings.
Consistency was rewarded as the team
of Riley Hamilton and Cody Spoerl put the best team
stringer from Day 2 on Cypress together with a solid
stringer from Day 1 on Bob Sandlin to take first
place honors this month.
Riley and Cody had 16.73 pounds Day 1
and 20.56 pounds for Day 2, combining for a total of
37.29 pounds and a comfortable victory.
Individual standings leader Jason Hill
and partner Andrew Roy used a Day 1 best stringer of
25.75 pounds and paired it with 4.68 pounds from
Cypress on Day 2 to take second place in the event
with a total of 30.43 pounds.
Third place
went to the team of Ken Cecil and Phillip Drane, who
had a solid 20.47 pound stringer on Sandlin with a
8.14 pound effort on Cypress to stave off the
remaining teams for a total weight of 28.61 pounds.
Three other teams were within four pounds of third
place, so it was a close finish for all concerned.
Twenty
competitors brought in 121 fish at a total of 222.34
pounds, a 1.84 pound average.
Big Bass of the tourney went to
Phillip Drane with a fine 5.42 pound Bob Sandlin
hawg. Thanks
to everyone for participating and congratulations to
the winners. We hope to see everyone next month
at Lake Texoma
on June 30th.
In the Angler of the Year competition, Jason Hill continues his stranglehold on the competition and time will tell if he has enough points to pull it off when everything gets shaved down to the best 10 tournaments. Jason is having a fantastic season, coming in with quality stringers event after event. Good job, Jason! |
