Our club took a trip down I-20 to good ole Lake Tyler this past month.  This is not a typo, we had strong winds again affecting the conditions in East Texas, with 25 to 30 mph wind gusts for much of the day. The local attempt to kill or thwart aquatic vegetation seems to have changed the lake a lot since the last time we were there.  Even the higher than normal water levels did little to improve the weights and catch rates overall.  Primary patterns appeared to be boat docks with varieties of lures.  Taking first place this month was the team of Mike Millender and David Gilmore, with a 5 fish sack at 15.28 pounds.  In a very close second place, we had the team of Riley “Local” Hamilton and Cody Spoerl with 7 fish at 14.85 pounds.  Coming in third place was the team of Jeff Cade and Tony South, with 5 fish at 10.17 pounds.   Big bass of the event went to Mike Millender with a 4.55 pound fish.  Twelve anglers total brought in 27 bass at 58.80 pounds, a 2.18 pound average.  Some scheduling issues and high school graduations affected the turnout last month.  Thanks to everyone for participating and congratulations to the winners. We hope to see everyone next month at the next event of the 2007-2008 season, a night event on Lake Cypress Springs, June 28th.  Cypress Springs is currently at full pool and the bass should be ready to beat the heat with some night time buffet!!!!
