Please note: there was an incorrect result posted due to a confusing set of marks on the weigh in sheet.   Lisa Cade was originally listed as weighing in no fish, when in fact, she weighed in her first keeper in a Rodbenders event!   Way to go Lisa!  Jeff Cade’s weight was also incorrect and has been corrected.  This did not affect final results in the weigh in.

RODBENDERS May 07 Newsletter

The club returned to Lake Tyler this past May 5th with high hopes of results similar to the record breaking catches from last year  Recent rains had raised the lake level to slightly better than last year, but the reported carp stocking definitely had an effect on the hydrilla on the East side.  Jason Hill remains sitting comfortably at the top of the yearly standings with a top stringer performance, plus he unseated Michael Kurys’ Cypress Springs hog with a nice 8.06 pound monster.  The top finishers reported catching fish on or near nests or near vegetation edges.  Many of the fish seemed to be guarding fry or feeding on windy shorelines.  Twenty-two (22) competitors brought in 46 fish weighing in 115.01 pounds, a 2.50 pound average.  For the third tournament in a row, no team brought in a 10 fish limit!  We need to break this string soon!  First place went to the team of Martin Kralik and John Duhon with a sack of 8 fish coming in at 24.64 pounds. Coming in second place were Jason Hill and Marla Hill with 5 fish at 18.81 pounds.  Third place went to Cody Spoerl and Riley Hamilton, who had 8 fish that weighed 16.63 pounds (these guys had two teams within one pound of their weight, so it was a “photo finish” for third).  As mentioned, Jason Hill brought in the biggest fish in a few years with an 8.06 pound hawg Thanks to everyone for participating and congratulations to the winners. We hope to see everyone next month at Lake Bob Sandlin.
