The morning of May1st had an ominous start as a cold front was pushing through the area mid-morning and threatening lightning and bad rain.  Fortunately for us, the wind was the main obstacle early in the day, as all the storms seemed to be north of us.   The topwater bite, cranks, and some soft plastics seemed to be the key to producing the solid stringers this day on Cypress Springs.    Old members Jeff Cade and Tony South paid us a visit this event and promptly won first place with a fine 26.88 pound stringer, including Big Bass at 4.40 pounds.   Tim Hall and Jason Hill continued their winning ways by bringing 10 fish at 25.00 pounds to the scale.  Third place was won by the team of Mike "Cypress" Millender and David Gilmore with 10 fish at 24.85 pounds.   This tournament featured five teams (out of 10) with stringers over 20 pounds, so the bite was ON...  Nineteen anglers weighed in 76 bass at 159.73 pounds, a 2.10 pound average.  Thanks to everyone for participating and congratulations to the winners.  Please welcome another new angler to our club - Chris Leach, who fished Cypress with Tom Baxter.   We hope to see everyone next month at the next event of the 2009-2010 season, Lake Tyler on June 5th.  Good luck to everyone at Tyler!!!
