***********RODBENDERS ANGLER OF THE YEAR FOR 2008 IS: MIKE MILLENDER!!!!!!!!!!!!************** After a hard fought battle with last year’s champion, Jason Hill, Mike managed to wrestle the crown away from Jason! Congrats Mike! Both you and Jason had very consistent seasons and can be proud of the results of your efforts. It was a very close finish for the championship, and both of you are to be commended for sticking with it all year long. ***** NEW HATS ARE IN!!!!! Mike was able to get the new hats completed, so bring your hat money to the next few meetings. Price will be about $10.00 per hat. They look great and we really appreciate Mike Millender taking care of the club and getting us some quality head gear. ****** Rodbenders went north this past month to Broken Bow Lake in SE Oklahoma for a two-day event. Only a few boats made this end of the year event, but as always, the lake was scenic and we had most of the lake to ourselves on Sunday. Saturday saw us weighing in some decent limits, but many of the over 16 inch fish were lacking for some of the competitors. The lake had come up three feet with the rain from Tropical Storm Gustav, and the whole lake seemed somewhat off color. Sunday saw some guys make adjustments and jump into the money with a few decent over 16 inch keepers. All in all it was a great time. Many fish were caught on topwaters and soft plastics. Taking first place this month was the team of Wayne Kralik and Darrel Thompson, with a 20 fish sack at 18.18 pounds. In a very close second place was the team of Tony South and Jeff Cade with 19 fish at 17.40 pounds. Coming in third place was the boat of Steve Kralik and net dog Bruiser, with 10 fish at 17.19 pounds. Big bass of the event went to Steve Kralik with a 2.77 pound fish. Nine anglers total brought in 86 bass at 75.43 pounds, a 0.88 pound average. Thanks to everyone for making the trip and congratulations to the winners. We hope to see everyone next month at the first event of the 2008-2009 season, on Lake Bob Sandlin, October 4th. Good luck to everyone at Sandlin. **************RODBENDERS 2008 CLASSIC*************************** The field is set for the annual Rodbenders Classic and the date will be FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24th. The following anglers have qualified for this event: Mike Millender, Jason Hill, Riley Hamilton, Cody Spoerl, Scotty Scott, Jerry Vaughan, Jeff Flovin, James Cannon, David Gilmore, Tim Hall, John Duhon, and Jeff Cade. The field is a good one and it’s normally a great time of the year to get on some fish. The lake selection will be voted on by the Classic qualifiers present at the next meeting. |
